“Palermo makes you sit among its baroque squares and pours you an endless beauty.“
“Those who have seen the sky of Palermo once will never forget it again.”
“I always say that Palermo is like a beautiful woman who doesn't know how to dress up, she's never dressed up, the proof of which is that she doesn't know how to show her sea, but in the end it's always a surprise. It is a city that makes you want to discover it. It's like great loves: you miss it when you're far away and it suffocates you when you live there. And so when I'm away I miss the thrill of Spasimo, the markets, the botanical garden, where I used to go to study from time to time, via Archirafi, and then the places of my childhood: via Pipitone Federico, where my grandmother lived, and therefore the church of San Michele and the bar of the same name, where we used to go to buy pastries."
"Palermo is the city with the most beautiful panorama in the world. […] The valley situated between two seas is stupendous, the lemon groves and orange gardens are so perfect. Many young boys have faces that smell of Greek culture, others just like Arabs, they look like many sculptures that rotate in the open air"
"Palermo, Museum of the Mediterranean: if you want to know what passed on these blue waves, come to Palermo. It is a delightful city, a sweet city, a perfumed city. Its squares, its streets, its gardens, its monuments are magnificent. Here is Sicily: a masterpiece of nature, the center of a world, an illustrious land, so moving and noble in its mysterious destiny."
