It is a wonder room forming part of an apartment on Porta di Castro Street in the Albergheria district, near the Ballar\u00f2 market and in the area of the ancient Kemonia riverbed. Its discovery dates back to 2003, when part of a decoration with Arabic motifs was accidentally unearthed in a room in the apartment of husband and wife Giuseppe Cadili and Valeria Giarrusso. Gold and silver calligraphic inscriptions on a blue background also appeared during the restoration work, concealed under four layers of lime and paint. In addition, restorer Franco Fazzio noticed that the doors were also painted blue. To establish this with certainty, Giuseppe Salerno, a UNESCO radiologist, performed a CT scan on one of the doors and found, under several layers of paint, a different and more complex pattern.
